Arrival in Ouarzazate

After leaving the airport, our Moroccan driver and comfortable minibus will take us towards the impressive sand desert of Merzouga. During the journey, we will pass through local Berber villages and admire Morocco’s diverse landscapes. Before reaching the desert, we will stop at a local shop where you will have the opportunity to buy traditional scarves, which provide practical protection from the strong desert sun and wind. Upon arrival in Merzouga, we will ride camels and begin a special approximately one-hour journey through the endless sand dunes. Along the way, we will stop among the dunes to admire the magical colours of the desert sunset. After sunset, we will settle into our desert tents, where a special Berber hospitality experience awaits us. We will spend the night under a sky full of stars, while local Berbers create an authentic desert atmosphere around the campfire with drums and traditional music. Nomadic Families and Khamlia Village

For those who wake up early, there will be the possibility to enjoy the sunrise over the dunes, one of the most magical and unforgettable moments in the desert. After breakfast, we continue exploring the desert. We will visit a nomadic family, where you will have the opportunity to learn about their daily life and traditions. Our hosts will welcome us with tea, and those who wish may contribute with their own little gesture of support through small donations to the family (for example, food supplies), which can be a great help to them. Afterwards, we travel to the village of Khamlia, which was once an important stop on the trans-Saharan trade routes. The local inhabitants will welcome us with traditional Gnawa music and mint tea, and the experience can be completed with dancing and a joyful atmosphere. The programme also includes a visit to an old desert mine, which began operating during the French Protectorate. Today, local Berbers still work there, extracting minerals that are used to create jewellery and handmade crafts. Lunch at a local restaurant: Berber pizza menu – €10/person (salad, Berber pizza, fruit) In the afternoon, we return to our accommodation, an authentic desert riad, where you can choose from optional activities: * Quad bike tour: €50/person/hour * Buggy tour: €150/2 people/hour * Relax by the hotel swimming pool (Accommodation with breakfast and dinner)

Return to Ouarzazate

After breakfast, we begin our journey back towards the mountains. On the way, we will make a short visit to the famous Rissani market, where you can buy local specialities such as ras el hanout spice blends, fresh dates, and traditional handmade products. Rissani is a historic oasis town known as the gateway to the Sahara and the birthplace of the Alaouite royal dynasty. Its market is one of the most authentic in southern Morocco, with sections dedicated to spices, vegetables, dates, and handicrafts. It is also home to the famous “donkey parking area”, a unique part of everyday local life. We continue our journey with a stop at the impressive Todra Gorge. Between rock walls rising more than 300 metres high, a crystal-clear stream flows through a spectacular landscape, offering a beautiful walk and a perfect place for photos and relaxation. During the journey, there will be an opportunity to have lunch at a local restaurant. Throughout the day, we will make a short stop in the Valley of Roses, where we will discover local products made from the famous Damask rose. At a Berber shop, you will also have the opportunity to purchase 100% natural rose-based products, such as rose water, creams, and perfumes. Kalaat M’Gouna, a picturesque town located at the foot of the Atlas Mountains, is famous for its rose plantations and perfume industry. In May, the famous Rose Festival takes place here during the blooming season of the Damask rose. Arrival in the afternoon at our charming accommodation. (Accommodation with breakfast and dinner)
